Artist's Comments

This is my third drawing of Kurt. I lost the first one I did. He has one of those faces that I like to draw. I used three different reference photos to draw this. And I decided to use a little artistic licence and give him wings and tears. I used Strathmore 400 series Bristol paper and a 2B mechanical pencil.

Thanks for looking,
Bonnie

Nice work! the texture on the jacket and wings is spot on! As well as the expression on his face! Keep it up!

You did the entire drawing using just the 2B pencil?

Yes, all my graphite drawings are done with a 2B mechanical pencil. I find it easier to get the dark and light contrast I want with a 2B lead. I can get darks that are as dark as charcoals with 2B leads. I use the mechanical pencil because its easier to get finer details with it, but coloring in large blocks of black with the mechanical pencil can be time consuming!
